In the latest figures released from the Swedish gaming regulator, the conversion of players moving from land based gaming to online continues and online gaming now stands at 43 per cent of the market.
The Swedish Gambling Authority (Lotteriinspektionen), published their Q1-17 estimates for the Swedish market which shows that conversion from offline to online continues.
Total revenues were rather flat at SEK 5.42bn, while online gaming grew by 10% to SEK 2.34bn. Operators regulated outside Sweden continued to gain market share and revenues from this group increased by 12.6% to SEK 1.25bn. Betsson’s consolidated growth in the Nordic region Q1, 2017 was 14%.
There is a proposed re-regulation of the Swedish gaming market that would allow operators like Betsson to apply for a license and compete on fair terms with the state monopoly. A new regulation could come into force in second half of 2019.
